I want to beome a professional singer. How do I get a manager?

I've been singing since I was 7 and it's always been my dream to become a famous recording artist. But I have a problem.
My parents and I are always moving around because of my mother's job. Next year we are going to move to Dominican Republic and after 5 years we'll go back to Brazil.
Do you think that'll affect my career? Do you think that I won't get any managers if I tell them I'm gonna move to another country after a few years?

Another question: how do I get a manager?

I wouldn't think it'd be much of a problem that you are going to move. As a professional singer, your home would only be a base to come back to your few weeks off a year.
Moving around will help you learn music from various cultures. Then you will have a background that other American singers don't have, something different. You have to have something different, or it is useless. It is far cheaper to repromote an already famous singer, than bring a new one up. So you have to be better than what is already out there. But not too much different, or you'll be too risky. Be yourself, no matter how that winds up. If you sing your own stuff, it will be enjoyable even if you are not famous. If you are famous and aren't yourself, it'll be fun to have people all around you and lots of money, but your soul won't be happy. And being yourself is the easiest way to find something a little different, and easiest way to be consistent in your career.
You get a manager by creating a stir that one notices. Usually in a band. If the locals love you, and flock to hear you, a manager will want to know why, and will know you are at least a little bit marketable.
Don't sing to get famous, sing because you love it. Then your audience will love it too. If you sing to impress, you might impress, but no one will really care. Make them feel the music with passion, then they will care.
Don't take a manager that requires money up front. If they believe in you, they will take a percentage of what you make.

Ask you parents to be your official managers/sponsors?

If not, find a reasonably rich backer, whom you can trust. With money and the internet/easy communications these days, anything is possible. Also, take part in more singing contests, some official music people may sit up and notice you, and who knows what goes from there :)

Good luck!

first if you want to be a pro. you need singing lessons. even though you probaly already think you can sing well. but even Mariah Carey, has/had singing lessons for herself. but other then that, just search the web.

I think moving around is good for your musician/singer.
But you must be really clear of what you wnat to do, i means in terms of music genre etc and go where to the place that have support for that kind of music.
And join alot of competition and perform as much as you can . Usually they have talent scout inthat kind of occasion. (it really depends whether the place is well known for that music, or if its a big city-less cances in small cities-but still it depends where)
Also, try to submit your material online, like myspace etc. and not limited to just one web.
And also, good PR would help, but your talent comes first.
Remember, if you're good, you're good, and ppl will finally open theyre ears and eyes.

Hope this help.Good luck

looks are everything. even singers with pitch problems can be fixed in post production.

the word "artist" is pretty much a charitable euphemism these days.

Brazil is a great place for music.
