I want to live in europe this summer.? |
I am a college student studying international business(studying german +spanish). I have never really been outside the northeastern united states and am dying to get out of here. anyways i just finished my sophomore year and really want to go to switzerland/germany/austria to spend the summer and improve my language skills (my spanish is already pretty good). anyways i have alittle money..enough for the hike over there and maybe to stay for a while but certainly not for the whole summer, or even a month, so I would need a job. I have looked online for international internships and such. I'm not even sure if this goal is realistic? anyways, can someone provide me with something of stepping stone. any link, information, a personal experience, anything at all would be helpful... thank you so much in advance! hey bud, you sound alot like me!!! haha, I'm studying German and Int. busn. (already fluent in Spanish) I'm a freshman now, but I took that trip last summer. what I did was I worked at a school bus factory for two months straight and saved up about $2000. $1000 for the ticket and the rest to spend. I stayed in Berlin for three weeks, with a friend (really helped out with the costs) I ran out of money towards the end...but it is so worth it what I suggest is make friends with a German exchange student, and then when they go back for the summer, go visit!!! that's what i did. I don't know about Austria and die Schweiz, but Germany was awesome. It definitely improved my German skills dramatically. you can prob. forget about the internship...or the job.....it's a little harder than you'd think... but definitely go, and try to stay at least three weeks, there are many cheap hostels you can stay at too. good luck! e-mail me if you want more info Source(s): go to www.bridgeabroad.com and go to the german section. I'm going to try and do the Berlin program for a full year next yr if the gov't will pay for it. be sure to e-mail bridgeabroad and they'll give you tons of info. make sure you ask alot of questions You can try a SWAP at travelcuts.com and they set up programs to let you work overseas or you can always try to be an aupair, which is just a fancy name for a nanny. www.travelcuts.com You could try Sweden!!! It is not easy to get a job, though. Anyway, check this site out and there are options for Business at this University.Good luck! www.mdh.se Myself Would apply for student visa and working entitlement. These 3 countries border each other.Try to base your self in a large town near Bern,Munich,or Vienna. These cities are expensive. But all within striking distance of one of the other countries.Finding work in your chosen field may not be possible. However work is always available in the wine industry, the hospitality industry. Youth hostels are relatively cheap. But you have to be aware of thieves. I'd suggest Germany is best, plus they have the same currency as Austria.(euro)Switzerland has thier own money(swiss franc) The only sites I can find are all australian. For work in Europe. If you'd like these let me know and I'll send them to you Good luck |
