It is standard in Australia to attach relevant references to your Resume/CV when applying for jobs? It definitely used to be required. I haven't lived there in a while so I'm not sure if the current practice is more like America where they prefer to call and speak to someone in person. Many of the jobs in the Sydney Morning Herald ask for references to be sent along with the resume/CV. what i normally do is type my references info onto my resume and they will contact them if need be. unless they specificly ask for them i wouldnt attach them. It is mandatory for a professional to attach relevant references to his resume, why? simply because you are likely to present your self as transparent as possible, plus if you have strong references, you will likely to give a positive impression. My cousin lives in Tasmania and she told me that some parts of Australia they ask for references, others don't. But mainly in Sydney. As a matter of fact, if you want to sound professional, or applying for a high level category job ( like a VP, CEO, MANAGER) then you are likely to add these details. Best of luck. I never put references on my resume. I supply them when the employer asks for them. |
