Engineering australia?

I'm an electronics engineer going to Australia. I need a job. I don't have any mining, or electrical engineering experience (which is what they really seem to want).
I've tried all the big job search engines like seek and mycareer etc and am not getting much response.

What's the best way to get a job in Australia?
Does anyone know good recruitment agencies in Australia that actually take your skills from your CV and try to find you a job???
Should I just go there and try my luck?
I've got a permanent residency visa

Thanks,
David

I am from west Oz. The economy is booming and they are screaming for engineers!!! Western mining, Rio tinto,BHP are just some...Also engineering support - alcatel , western power, etc
Try head hunters or recruiters and also the government employment servive - CES. Best to be there ie Perth & work the Terrace employment agencies(st georges tce, perth)

cheers scott.
no need to leave us so soon.
look around here in the USA there's a lot of jobs out there.
my husband is getting his master's and will work for a military base here in Louisiana and will get paid really high.
try a military base close to you and work for the Gov. on base a part of their Gov. contract.
it works for my husband.
