Is it easy getting a job in Australia for Americans? |
Is it easy getting a job in Australia for Americans? that really depends on if you plan to go to Aus temporarily or permanently, what kind of job you're after, what kind of skills you have and what kind of work authorization you have. If you're a nurse, pharmacist, accountant or other occupations on The Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) then you will find it easy to get a job and get lots of support with visas and relocation. If you're just looking to do a bit of casual labor to supplement your travels there then there is a 416 visa for americans that lets you work for 4 months and then you can extend your time on a touriist visa after that. I've heard of informal agricultural and other work available if you just show up but you would need to look into more throughly for where and when you plan to be there. Informal/cash in hand jobs are not as prevelant in Aus as they are in the states so it's harder to work without a valid work visa. As far as I can tell, there is not much of a bias or prejudice against Americans in Aus so I doubt you would have a problem with not getting jobs because of that.
