Does wearing a head cover affect getting a job in NSW, Australia?


I'm a muslim woman wearing a viel & have 5 years expereince in arabic into english and english into arabic translation, what are my chances to get a jop in NSW, australia

Your chances of getting a job do not depend on your religioun or your religious dress.
Any ethical employer (and try not to believe the media hype that all employers are racist and money-focused, they're not) will look past your clothing and your beliefs. They are private matters that have no impact on your skills.
As an employer I have always looked at the value the candidate brings to the business and the other workers.
If you can demonstrate that to your potential employer, you'll get the job.
And if the employer is racist or narrow-minded, ask yourself "Do I want to work with someone like that?"

No, but getting ahead does. The government still has a lot to legislate if women or any minority groups are to have equal and equitable opportunity in the workplace.
Why not contact the NSW branch of Muslim Women's Association. They may be able to advise you about career prospects. Also, there are opportunities for teaching both in the government schools and at Saturday School of Community Languages. Look up the NSW Department of Education and Training website.
There should not be any problems about wearing a veil. The anti-discrimination laws are there to protect you. Good luck!
