I have got a job in management consulting in Australia. Which city is better Sydney or Melbourne?

The job scope is in business improvement and finance strategy. I know lifestyle in Melb is better due to lower crime rate and cheaper cost of living. But Sydney is the biggest city in Australia. In terms of career progression , which city will offer me the better opportunity? Sydney or Melbourne?

Sydney definitely, although Melbourne has some good opportunities as well.

Melbourne is the home of all the major banks and financial institutions so I would suggest that if your all about finance that's the place to be. Melbourne is much cooler than Sydney in a intellectual kind of way. The bars are hipper and the food is better. I suggest living on the Carlton/Brunswick side or in the CBD. St Kilda and the beach side of town is quite expensive and abit bland and dull.
