Marine Biology Jobs in Australia?

I currently live in Brisbane, Stafford Heights and I can't find any good marine biology jobs anywhere. I want to specialize in sharks, but I don't want to work in an aquarium. I want to learn about other animals too, like jellyfish and octopuses, etc. I'd rather be in a scuba suit swimming through the Great Barrier Reef. I don't mind if the job's far away, but it can't be like 5 hours away.
Does anyone have any requests?! Please help!

Aquariums and sea parks can be a good place to begin gathering knowledge and experience that can lead to further opportunities.

Also good to visit universities with a Marine Biology program. There will often be a board with postings of available opportunities, professional as well as research.

Hi Melissa. Even if you don't want to work at an aquarium, it would probably be a good idea to contact them, as they would probably know of jobs that are available elsewhere in that line of work. They may even employ people to collect fish etc. on the Great Barrier Reef as well.
There are a few places I can think of that you could contact, eg. Underwater World at Mooloolaba, Australia Zoo at Beerwah, Alma Park Zoo, north of Brisbane. I'm sure there are more, and they could probably put you in contact with people looking for marine biologists.
