Can I get a job of nursing in Australia? Which university is good?

I wanna study in Australia, especially in nursing program. (I'm Korean)

I like to know the universities which require low tution but have a high reputation.

Another question is this : If I graduated from a university in a small city like Adelaide or Perth, can I get a job as a nurse in other cities? Actually, I'm interested in QUT, VU, Flinders U. Because they serve a graduate entry, so I can join the course as a 3rd year student. How's those universities? Can I get a job anywhere in Australia after graduating from those Universities?

My Last Question is this : I heard a nurse is very needed in Australia, so I can get a job after this course. Is it true?

Thank you for your answer!!

G'day,

There are only 42 (soon to be 43) universities in Australia, all of them are fully accredited and they are tightly controlled, therefore the quality and recognition of their graduates are equal from wherever university you are studying from. The most important thing is you have to READ the course information carefully, since some courses may have the same name but different content.

The universities that you mentioned are all well-recognised and the qualification are well-accepted anywhere in Australia, so you dun have to worry. As the quality and recognition are the same, the tuition fees are pretty much the same as well.

To find out the latest info abt the nursing course and where else it is offered, I suggest you to go to the Dept. of Education, Science and Training website (http://cricos.dest.gov.au). It will give the list of institutions that are able to offer courses to international students who wants to continue their study in Australia. The info abt fees and requirements are available from the universities' websites. Please make sure that the information you are accessing are the one for International Students.

Once decided on the institution, fill in the application form for the international students and send it together with certified copy of your academic qualification (in English and original language). The process will take abt 2-3weeks, depending on the time of the year. You will also need to submit the IELTS test results (www.ielts.org).

In regards to jobs, there are a few factors that you may need to be aware of:
1. Visa regulation. Currently, most international students can get temporary visa to stay and work after completion of their study. However the laws change every now and then, so I certainly hope that things are not going to be harder when you have completed your study.
2. Language. You English level must be very good, since you are communicating with patients directly. This will also be notified during your job interview.
3. Excellent results. You are competing with local graduates as well, so you will need something more to prove.

Hope this helps. E-mail me at mikegun@studentfirst.com.au if you have any further queries abt study in Australia. Good luck on your studies and welcome to Australia :)

University of Adelaide that's all I can say because my cousin is studying ther right now thats all I can advise you.Oh yeah and she is studying nursing apparently she likes it.
