How do you get a job as a voice for radio ads in Australia?

Does one have to be a trained actor? Or at least do some kind of training? Where would one go for such training? I have been told on a number of occasions that I have a nice speaking voice and should do something like this, but I don't know where to start.

try approaching some community stations and volunteering some time doing some work. Everyone usually has to pitch in on these stations and you may be able to help out with there ads. When you get confident and you know the business then you can start to look for bigger and better things.

This is how most announcers get started.

Google 'Voice Over Training'

Having a great voice is a good start but you need a little bit of training and know-how re auditions etc

record your demo tape. show personality and charisma. then call up nova , fox, vega [ the contact numbers on they're websites] and ask if they'll take a listen. if they have a vacancy or usually a waiting list you'll get picked to do a segment or something. Good Luck.
