If my intent is to make people believe stuff that I鈥檝e just made up about Jesus, is that ok?

You know, say I want to make people believe that an angel told me that Jesus visited Australia and he left platinum plates there with another testament of the bible and it鈥檚 my job to make people believe that their existing doctrine is false and the stuff that I鈥檓 telling them is the truth, because my intent is genuine and I really believe this stuff, this makes it ok, doesn鈥檛 it?

See you got it all wrong. My last answer was speaking of Joe Mormon (you know the average everyday LDS) has a good intent. Joseph Smith who you are speaking of here (the plates, etc) had a different intent; but the Mormon followers themselves have no other intent than to spread the gospel they have been taught and continue to believe as pure truth. J Smith knew it wasnt pure truth, so his intent was one of malice.

I think what it boils down to is, you're asking if it's okay to lie to people to see if they'll believe you. While I don't agree with lying at all, for any reason, I do understand that sometimes it's fun to stir things up a little and see how people react.

You need to ask Jesus first and if he says it is ok then go for it. Of course assuming you believe in Jesus, he did say something about All Liars will have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone. Have fun! Oh and said that saying that Jesus did something or said something that he did not do or say is called blasphemy and you don't really want to know what the sentence is for that one. But then again, if you don't believe in Jesus it does not matter.
