If I don't pay my debts will they come and seize my property/barge into my house???

I owe money to some big corporations. They biggest debt is $2000. I haven't paid them anything for over three years because I have no job, I have been studying. I don't care about my credit rating anymore, it will be wiped in 5 years anyway. I heard that a sheriff can come and seize my belongings, is this true? If so, what if I don't open the door, will he break it down??? I'm not paying these people one cent and I have told them that. Can I be arrested? Will the cops just barge into my house like they do for drug raids? I am in Adelaide, Australia.

For me, there is no option of paying these people. I will not falter on that, if I have to declare bankruptcy then so be it, credit can always be rebuilt. I am still so young (21) and I don't plan on buying a house for another 10 years or so. I just wanted to know that if I don't pay will I get a criminal record or something along those lines...

You can not be arrested for not paying your bills. They can get a judgment against you. With the judgment they can garnishee your wages or bank account. They can put a lien on your property. If you try and sell that property, the lien will be satisfied before you can receive any proceeds from the sale. They will not take your furniture or any personal items. You will not be able to borrow any money if they do get a judgment against you.. On the other hand, they may not bother with the judgment. They may decide it is not worth the expense.

If the debts were not secured by the property, then no, they cannot come take them.
Store credit and credit cards, for the most part are called unsecured debt. That means there is no collateral.
If you are still in collections, the 7 year clock hasn't started yet.

yes they can i it was me i would just ask them if you could just pay like $20.00 a week or thing like that i am doing the some thing.
or declare bankrutcy you can if you want
you cant be arrested
the cops can not break down your door
they will just keep ringing you and want leave you alone
