Should I backpack through Asia, Europe, or Australia? |
So I was thinking of backpacking after college for 4-5 months if not a year if possible., or alternatively, teaching english in japan for a year(if I get the job), then just hope a boat ride to Asia or Aussie land(and backpack for half a year). Anybody who can give me a comparison. I'm leaning towards asia for cost reasons. I keep hearing great things about australia, but I have this idea that it will be like britain except with Aussie accents and an outback. I was thinking europe, but I don't want to spend 4-5K + over the course of 5 months. Asia is it for a low budget. A whole variety of cultural experiences as well as lots to see. Just SEA should keep you busy for five months. I do not think you will find Australia much like the UK. Oh, it will be a lot closer than Thailand in customs. But, it is a very big country , even without the out back. And a lot nicer climate with everything from the arid to the tropics. I have seen parts of both. A good trip might be to fly into Bangkok. Travel around mainland SEA and then head south through Malaysia and Indonesia on your way to Australia. Well if ure on a tight budget,of coz Asia wud be more ideal than Australia.Different asian countries offer different things.I've been to a few countries in Asia before. My personal favorite wud be Malaysia, its a multi cultural country & friendly people wid amazing beaches on the East coast.Thailand offers cheap budget shopping..LoL..and as for Vietnam & Cambodia ( Angkor Wat ) was worth a visit.Been to Australia too, they have different things to offer..of coz nothin beats the great outback..LoL..If u can manage to go to all the places its even more better! :) I've listed a few links for u to take a peek..Have fun! **travellin Swede :) www.tourism.gov.my http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/angkor_wat... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/vietnam... You could save money and back pack around the south pacific. Lived in Fiji for 4 years Don't know much about backpacking, sorry. But as for Australia being like the UK...I was born/live in Australia and have visited the UK. The only thing they have in common are the friendly people :P Why not do it all! |
