What are the best sources available to working and living in another country?

I have studied abroad during my college career, and living abroad has become increasingly ingrained since graduating. I am looking to live abroad a minimum of one year, preferrably with a job so I have an opportunity to stay longer. South America, Europe, Asia... all countries are of interest. Thanks so much.

Job opportunites do not have to be in the six figures, nor should they be digging graves or working at concession stands. It's all about the value of foreign qualities of life.

A few things.

The heady days of the "expat lifestyle" are over. Sorry but you missed the boat.

If the primary language in your chosen country is not English, then you must speak the local language. If you are already very fluent to native speaker in another language, choose a country which uses those language skills. The only caveat to this would be you offer a very rare skill set that the company needs.

It really helps to love the country you are going to.

Having said that, it is possible to go and work overseas...just forget about the stories of the mid to late 90s where we were getting 6 figure salaries and all expenses paid. You will get a local wage and they might help with accommodations.

Your best bet, depending on your skills, might be the JET program in Japan. You are basically an English teacher at a school for one year (which can be extended another year). Google for it and good luck.

Being an expat is rewarding on many levels.
