Handicap being a foreigner in the U.S. Talking about poor English.? |
My leg is broken. Some people push me to walk normally, but I can't. I'm talking about my communication skills in English. I studied hard and am still trying, but I can't write and talk like an American. I'm from Asia and don't compare me with an European (they use alphabet). People from Asia in the U.S. don't basically get any respect because of their poor English. I extremely work hard and do a good job at my work, but that's not enough and there are always people who pick on my English. It's really frustrating...not about those people but it's really hard to improve communication skills. I'm in the communications field. I'm working in the main-stream field instead of the Asian related field where I can make more money and title, but the Asian stuff is not what I want to pursue. Am I stupid? No but you are trying to con people - there is nothing wrong with your English and you are simulating errors. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! You are doing the best you can, don't worry about what ignorant people say about you. Can you imagine them going to YOUR country and learning to communicate in your language??! People in the US are FAMOUS for their inability to learn other languages and understand other cultures. I have worked as a foreign language (Spanish) teacher and have also taught ESL. The ESL students were 100% more motivated and worked hard to improve their skills... Continue to practice, study, and get to know people who will be more supportive toward your goals... Good luck to you!! lign="right" > Sign in to vote! lass="explain-text">Sometimes none of the answers get it just right. If so, pick "No Best Answer".
