Where is a good place to go for a relaxing, tropical vacation in September (not Hawaii, I'm from there!)?

I love traveling and have been all over Asia, Europe and Central America...but I recently lost my travel partner due to a breakup. :( I'm a little uncertain about venturing out on my own. Am planning on quitting my job in September (yay!) and am looking for ideas on places to go or some kind of tour for the under 35 crowd that's not super cheesy. Any ideas from fellow travelers??

Though the places mentioned in the above post are nice places, I beleive Sri Lanka or the Malidive Islands will be better because of the lower crime rates, the less crowded beeches, and the competative prices.
