Does it take a genius to figure out that the U.S. need to quit outsourcing to Asia, in particular. Besides?

the fact that they have had to recall so much stuff, it would bring a lot of jobs back here.

it is not about bringing jobs to america, it is about cutting cost.

china/asia has a huge work force which can work for much less than the american worker.

consider for a moment, the american worker makes 1 dollar an hour
he pays 10 cents out of the dollar for social security
his employer meets that in his part for social security

the employer pays for health care (or some of it, say 2 dollars a month)
the employer has to pay taxes on his building say 12 dollars a year
the employer has to have a parking lot and that cost 30 dollars a year to maintian, as he needs someone to care for it,

all of this adds up.

if the employer buys everything from china and sells it whole sale, he has no employees, no matching social security, no insurance for workers or workmans comp insurance, no taxes on a large building, no parking lot to keep,

the bottom line is turning a bigger profit.

the united states is becoming a service industry not value added. it can't continue like this long before it will collapse as its dollars will be overseas,

other countries have done this and they are hurting now

we will fall in line also at some point

The US is not outsourcing to Asia; it is done by individuals and businesses that find it cheaper to outsource certain services than perform them at home. That's the free market in operation. The overall effect on the US economy may be good or bad, but in a free market every entity has to look out for its own best interests. Theoretically, when that happens, it benefits the overall economy. The theory does not always work because governments impose constraints of various kinds. But on the whole, the system works pretty well.
