I am planning a trip to Asia, where should I go?

I am thinking of going in a few months. I only plan on staying for a month...maybe two max...stupid job and responsibilities...

I am 25, so I would like to see the night life of most of the places I go to, but I would also love to see historic and other important sites. I've been to Laos, Thailand, and HK before, but wouldn't mind seeing them again.

What places should I go to? I HAVE to go back to Laos for at least a week, so if someone could recommend somethinig in Laos that would be great too!

Vietnam- Specifically go to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Hanoi, the night life goes on until 11PM to 12 AM. Ho Chi Minh City's night life can go to past 1 AM. If you go to those two cities, you will get to see how busy it is there... tons of people. There is a lots of cheap and expensive shopping and tons of places to eat. Don't worry about food. Food is cheap in Vietnam. If you like pho, it is 26000 dong (about $1.70 or so) for the expensive kind and 15000 dong (less than $1.00) for the cheap kind.. if you go to Hanoi, there are many lakes to go to and tourist sites. It is described as european like.. very beautiful here. Just to know, smoking and drinking beer is the norm here. If you like beer, a cup of beer can range from 2000 to 4000 dong (about 25 cent) if you go to the peoples place. besides that, there are many tourists place like the literature places, temples, natural scenery. if you want to see the natural beauty of vietnam, go to ha long bay.. for tons of beaches, go to Da Nang... beautiful beaches there!!

go to the Philippines

i think you would like cambodia... not too far from Laos....
go see the angkor wat (temple) its now one of the 7 wonders of the world...

best to go see it... before the place becomes too commercialised.

indonesia has alot of cultural sights too.... try java or bali.... they have beautiful historic temples there...

stopover at singapore for good food n pampering at hotels n shops b4 heading on if u bacpac... but this week is the ctry's national day so try off peak unless u want to c it...

Travelfish suggests itineraries.

The Angkor area is already extremely touristed. Instead, I would spend time explore souther Laos and Myanmar. Much more off the beaten track.

As you plan to spend a few months, check out the part of Cambodia's coast line close to the Vietnamese border. Definitely also off the beaten track.

Only take my advice if you are up for some adventure and basic accommodation.

Depends on your interests, but for historic/important sites, do consider Pagan in Burma and some of the ancient towns on Java. Java also has an extinct volcano.

Western Malaysia has astounding natural beauty in the form of virgin rain forests (jungle).

For Laos, note that one of the most secret sites from the Vietnam War era is now open to the world. The caves at Viengxay, in north-eastern Laos, once hosted the country's communist revolutionaries as they plotted the final US defeat in Indochina.
But even in peacetime, it takes two days to drive to Viengxay from either Vientiane or Luang Prabang.

The remoteness of this "hidden valley" was one reason that the communist Pathet Lao chose it as its headquarters. The other was that the valley is full of natural caves - nearly 500 of them.

I suggest you visit Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Malaysia,Cambodia, Japan and Vietnam. Thailand for example have many islands like Phuket (one of the biggest one), Phi Phi Island, Koh Samui, etc. Are wondurfull, and you can enjoy water sports, relaxing spas and enjoy cultural tours ( temples, panoramic views, forest, elephant trekking, markets and others).

In Malaysia you can visit Kuala Lumpur(nice place with night life), and you can visit too, the island of Kota Kinabalu (Borneo), enjoy of Parasailing, and many others. Have together with the people and take tours around the island. Or you just can enjoy of the many ammenities of the wonderfuls hotels.
In China, you can visit the biggest cities, including the capital and you are going to have an excellent trip, then during the night in Beijing and Shanghai you can enjoy of the night life. I live in China, if you need specific recommendations contact me dtourtravel@yahoo.com.
