What can you say on columnist Malu Fernandez degrading OFW's?

Complaints sent via the Internet and through othery types of media led a Manila-based society columnist to resign from her job following her negative comments about overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau reported Thursday.
Bureau chief Dindo Amparo reported that Filipinos in the Middle East proved they can make a difference by uniting for a cause against columnist Malu Fernandez.

In her column titled 鈥淔rom Boracay to Greece,鈥?which saw print on 鈥淧eople Asia鈥?magazine, Fernandez detailed her unusual and spur of the moment Holy Week vacation in Greece.

First of all, she's a journalist and maybe she thought she was being cute. But basically, I flew the same route going home and I found most of the Pinoys I was with in Emirates from Dubai to Manila were super super pleasant with 'kapwa-pinoys' and nothing beats the hospitality of pinoys no matter how stinky-linky she said they were. She should get stuck in a plane with monkeys and I'll give her stinky-linky. Her style was offensive and basically, she thinks she's above the rest, so bakit nasaksak sya sa economy? She needs to be reminded that the dollars OFWs send here to this country is the fuel that keeps the economy afloat or else she's be stuck in Economy for good. Its people like OFWs who keep this country afloat no matter their sacrifice to be away from their families and I wish ABSCBN did not accept her resignation but instead teach her a lesson in humility. She should have been assigned to Africa and I'll give her stinky-linky. B*tch.

Wow,if that is a travel magazine writer,it was not about the places that she visited,it was about her- her stress,her friend,her purchases,her hotel.Based on the link given,her 2-page article basically mentioned Athens roughly about 25%. Even psychedelic was misspelled.Was there an editor present to check her work???

I caught a quick glimpse on TV PATROL she has bitten off a lot more than what she can chew.
Imagine saying that about the OFW's. They get abused enough by their employees but to be insulted like that by one of their own is disgusting. I hope she has to go out and become an OFW and then perhaps she might learn first hand the sacrifices these people have to make.

She is just one pretentious woman who wanted to be on top of her career through social climbing. She wanted to go up fast regardless of whom she steps on and by trying to make others see her as some classy rich chick, though the outcome has shown her as one who lacks the good breeding to be considered one.

Well, she got her just desserts, just as fast a downfall as her fast rise. At least she had the few days of notoriety she must have dearly clamored. A woman with a sad life.

She's insolent, and in trying to grab attention, managed to insult the ONE sector that she really had no right to insult. Maybe she thought she was being "deliciously deviant" when she wrote that. She was being pretencious, trying hard to sound eloquent and in turn brought destruction to herself.

it's disgusting.!! now, is this an example of the elite world???to all her(m.f.galing ng initial nya mother f****) families, friends and counterparts, i strongly believe its not our part that need be change this is your chance to show us... is this one of your kind??? does she belong in your so called world ???? elite world??? if so/ not we might want to at least hear your opinion and advised her of what is wrong with her. sa lahat, may kanya kanya tayong pananaw tungkol sa kanya, ika nga there is always two sides of a story, would it be a change to hear from her counterparts, to see if they all sail in the same boat?

Please do note that not all rich people in the Philippines think like Malu. It's mostly the noveau-riche (the "biglang yaman" kind) who tend to look down on the people "they once were."

Here are my observations about the article:
* She practiced her freedom of expression, but forgot about respect altogether.
* It was not a travel article.
* She misspelled a lot of words, she misspelled a lot of brands, and she was inconsistent with a lot of her own POV (i.e. she hates the beach and yet she was looking forward to go back to Boracay).
* She chose to ride economy for crying out loud. If she hates OFWs that much, wouldn't she be in Business Class so she would have away from them?
