Racist Argentina?

Hi everyone! My job requires lots of traveling and I will be in Argentina for 4 days,Im traveling with two Afro american girls,I heard Argentina was racist, and I dont want them to be embarresed or dishonored,is this true about this country?

I just came back from Argentina (was there for 3 months) and I didn't run into any overt racism. There were a lot of people staring at me for the first few days, and a few kept asking if I was from Brazil because there aren't many black people in Buenos Aires. It's not that they're being racist, it's just that it's not usual to see too many black people there. But other than that, the people were pretty friendly. Food's not bad, either. Definitely nothing to be embarrassed or dishonored about. Nice place.

I did hear that the people in Cordoba aren't quite as...open minded, we'll say. But I didn't go there, so I can't really give an opinion on it, other than what I heard from a guy I met in Buenos Aires. I guess you'll just have to see for yourself. And besides--we live in the US! If they're not used to racism by now, then they'll never be used to it.

It would help if you wouldn't call them afro americans....

Just a suggestion.

Hello, here an argentinian speaking.,
Come over with confidence, because noone will tell you nothing, in fact (at least i do( it is quite interesting and sexy to see some more diversity..
If in the street people tells you that you are black or stay steering at you its not as a racist act, its just that here there is almost none african descendants so its something new and unusual, and maybe wont know to say african american, but never racist, and please dont feel attacked for that, and enjoy your stay.,
SPEAK WITH PEOPLE AND YOU WILL MAKE FRIENDS IN A SECOND, dont be affraid

Well, I think that there will be not much of a problem, but... racism is everywhere, so you might find some1 that will be racist to them. If you run into a situation like that, please don't say we Argentinians are racist people. Maybe you are not the type of person, but a lot of people from those self called as first world countries tend to say bad things about us because they had just one bad experience in our country.
Best wishes.
-Alfred
