Brian Barwick already clutching at straws?

With more managers withdrawing from the managerial race for the poisoned chalice than are actually applying, do you think it is time for Roy Hogson to be aloowed in from the cold? Or do Finland actually value their national coach?

Let's face it, taking the England job at the moment with a board who are like the old SFA of the 70s (Argentina anyone?), why would any respectable coach take the job when their employers have never kicked a ball in anger.

you make some good points, but i think even barwick and co now realise they have to talk to football people and are seeking the advice of wenger and other football people, although fergie recommended mclaren for the england job, probably on purpose. looking at our group we have the technical eastern europeans so obviously we need a technical coach aka klinnsman or similar.

Mr Barwick should be relieved of his post now, he knows very little about football and even less about football management. Sir Trevor Brooking was in my opinion a great player and a great ambassador for the sport, however, he does not have a record of success in management and has no experience of international management, Mr Brooking is responsible for developement in the sport, a job which he seems incapable of performing, he made so many statements about what he was going to do for kids and grass root development and has fullfilled very few of them, maybe his time has been taken up by searching for an England manager. So, we now have these 2 people trying to find, interview and then employ our next manager, we don't have a hope in hell. Incidentally, has anyone ever written to the FA asking them to explain their shortcomings and then got a reply? i have written and not had a response, i know 4 others who have written and got no response, mmmm i wonder why? take care and good luck.

and the fa as a whole should be given a complete overhule
but it will never happen because it makes a lot of people rich for very little work
england in my view should have an english manager but as always there is no one good enough availible or the fa want someone from abroad they can 'control'
either way the fans will never be heard and we will always be dissapointed with the results of which our national team aquire
but also you have to realise that england as a team are not as good as we percieve
we see gerrard and lampard playing brilliantly for liverpool and chelsea and wonder why they cant do that for country its because its very hard for a footballer of that stature play well for a team that they barley have a week to train with to go out and play against other 'world class' teams...
compared to them training day in day out with their club players...
this is why players like crouch and shaun wright phillips play well for their country because rafa benitez and avram grant dont play them regularly at club so when they play for country they are 'raring to go' to prove them selfs whereas robinson and lampard are not...

They should do what they did in 1993/4 and get Jimmy Armfield to find someone...he turned up El Tel last time, and that worked out pretty well.

Got to wonder why they are still looking though, they aren't going to find anyone of the same stature as Fabio Capello.
