How about india hosting its own OS?Could anyone give an erudite analysis?

If any computer freak starting writing kernel of Operating System, what could be its possible future? Also i believe now india has got all the resources to have its own Operating System and other System Programs,instead of depending on other countries software. Also if India owes its own OS, Pirated OS cds would get diminished, and i think that could be the path for india to become a leading IT SERVICE PROVIDER.Today most of the computers owned by individuals host pirated WINDOWS OS, which is an undeniable fact.Also it looks ridiculous the government banning pirated indian movie cds while it is least concerned about the pirated OS CDS.I ask the govt, is it not illegal?.If NO, im sure INDIA has lost its lusture, what GANDHI AND NEHRU AND ALL THE HUMANS IN INDIA BEFORE 1947 cultivated and protected.Then ABDUL KALAM AND MANMOHAN ARE NOTHING BUT THE KING OF "SLUM" INDIA. I FEEL CHILL AS A COMP GRADUATE.BUT IM NOT GOING TO STOP WITH IT.

It compared indian hardware price of a decent computer and windows xp CD was expensive than that. It ran analogy that about Pepsi rates aboad and in india and software rates abroad and in india.

Must look into that in their archeives. Failing to stop piracy is failure of marketing strategy of company too.

And yes OS have been written by indian students many times purchased by MNCs too but if they use their own, software source code is needed instead of easily available windows binaries which poses a problem. If everything was open-source, this problem wouldnt have been there.

And many people in india(students) use linux. Use XP these days to play games only. Source(s): Digit(not remeber issue)/My own experience with linux/news/friends/classmates.

Our college had Linux installed (because windows was unable to handle our requirements) So many others too.

I am a Punjabi and live in USA. I see that Indian people are illegally using the Microsoft. I think they should just start their own OS or get a contact with Microsoft if they can afford one. Microsoft and Mac are the OS leaders in the world. They should just sign a contact in my opinion. They could be arrested by or Sue by microsoft they are very rich and powerful than India. Indian should stop getting illegally things like OS, ipod, and stop hacking. I heard that every one in India knows how to hack.

There is support for Unix and Linux in India. Governments there have found that Linux is a good desktop and server environment and much cheaper than MS Windows.

As for pirates in India, there are pirates in every country, using illegal copies of Microsoft and other venders. In USA it is a fine art.

US started this work in 1950's. It took them 50 years to reach this position. Indian education does not allow innovation. We are here to learn the concepts invented by others and then work for them.

Think something else which has not been invented by others.
