Organized Labor vs. Management?

My immediate manager told me I was scheduled for In-House
training. My response was that the training regarded In-House
function not on my job description and I had no inclination to
volunteer. Gist of her reply was, "It's my way or the highway",
but even 'tho I'm nearing retirement I declined to be bullied.
The training date came and went. My job description changed
without notice sent me nor signature recieved that dates my
acknowledgement for record purposes. Yet the task that can't be preformed without training was subsequently assigned to a less seniority person who shares few of my responsibilities. I did get instruction to attend official oral reprimand for 'lack of common sense' at Employer Office of Human Resources which another woman administers. I just glowered and didn't say anything. Since them I've earned Employee of the Quarter Award for my other work habits but find my immediate manager boorish nontheless. I'm not one to polish an apple. Comments?

Comments not ample excuse to draw me a picture, show off dance steps,
or sing some tragic Italian opera?
>>> Question: Tell me ...
if I need to be told something?

welcome to the real world, in the good ole USA your boss IS your government, and the courts WILL uphold it.

close to retirement? Take the training classes, it's all BS anyway but it gets you off the street for a while. Most managers are boorish by definition. Suck it up and know that you will be kicking back in retirement while your dimwitted manager is growing ulcers.

Your job description is to follow orders. If I was writing your check the first time you said that you would have been looking for someone else not to listen to.

My way or the highway if you are still complaining after giving another chance then maybe you should have taken the highway.

Remember you chose to stay therefor you agreed you were wrong so why are still crying.

well if i am reading this correctly, you didnt go to the required training and maybe the other person did. you are nearing retirement so they are looking for a replacement for you. even though that person may be less qualified, they are newer to the field and will nonetheless learn more than you did when you first started. also if you are near retirement, enjoy the decline in responsibilities and let someone else do the dirty work.
