What is the contribution of in house training in human resource development? |
What is the contribution of in house training in human resource development? I should think it would be considerable, especially in retail trades, where turnover is so high. I know I have made application to the human resources department of a major department store, and been told I was OVER qualified (as an experienced legal secretary), even though I had never worked in that field. I think if you go to the larger department stores or chain supermarkets or discount marts, they would be happy to have someone with little more than a high school diploma, good recommendations, and a willingness to work up from the bottom. Should be worth a try, anyway. If you were to try to get formal education, I suppose you would want to combine classes in the business administration department and the psychology department. Those seem to be the two most important areas for human resources work. I doubt whether there is a formal degree in human resources, but if there is, one of the other answerers is bound to correct me. |
