What is actually meant by "validate" in this sentence? |
--------------- Secondary sources as well as direct contact with the business establishments and industries in the area is carried out to assess specific human resource requirements. This assessment forms the basis of finalizing the training courses and development of curriculum according to the market demand. The assessment is repeated every six months to *validate* on the progress, introduce new courses and update the training curriculum if needed. it is a gramatical error in this case but i believe they were talking about evaluating progress. that is the only other obvious choice 'to validate on the progress' does not make grammatical sense. I think it means to make sure the progress is being done, checking up on it, actually. to make sure the progress on this assessement is legitimate (not false and/or a falsified finding). Good Luck!!! Whoever wrote it is trying to say "verify" the the progress.... I agree that "to validate ON the progress" does not make gramattical sense. However, gramattical errors aside, I think the sentence is basically saying they are checking to see if the course is working. Validate in this case means that the assessment is being used to mark the progress of the training and development program. They are performing the assessment to determine if they need to change their training and development to better suit their needs. If the assessment performs in a way that shows that their program needs little or no changes, then the progress of their program is "validated". |
