Should I go back for another bachelor's degree?

I already have a bachelor's in Early Childhood Education but I don't want to be a teacher. I already tried to get jobs where you just need a degree in anything but no luck. Ive been waiting tables for almost 5 yrs. now and im literally sick of it. I have a bachelor's degree and shouldn't be waiting on tables. I've been thinking about Human Resources management or Accounting. And oh yeah I'm already in debt from college before so thats why I'm hesitant on going back again. Help!

Good luck! There are no easy answers unfortunately. Here are your general options.

1. Keep looking for a job.

2. Go back for another bachelors degree. If you are up for the time commitment, then by all means go for it. Also be aware of the cost factors.

3. Grad School. This is not as scary as it may seem. There are a number of fields that you could choose from such as MBA, accounting, economics, or human resources. Combining your new degree with experience gained as a temp/intern, you would have the edge you need. Depending upon your major, you might be able to get all of your schooling payed for, while your loans are deferred. You have to be sure about your new field though, and be prepared to live a very basic lifestyle.

I wouldn't do a full bachelor's degree, but something shorter. Not sure of the state of play where you are, but in Australia you can do a Grad Dip which is a third of the length of a Bachelors, but only those who've already graduated from another degree (any other - doesn't matter if it's not related) can enter. Or, consider a shorter vocational qualification, then get a job, and find an employer who will pay for a more expensive degree like a Masters if they see your promise. (For that to happen, of course, you have to excel at what you do next and then show some promise...) Good luck!

try post-bac programs--dont waste time on another bachelors--you need graduate level work

Depending upon where you live, you probably won't have to repeat your general education courses, just take the core classes for your major. Talk to the adult reentry folks at your local university. It may be listed under some other name. However, the university switchboard should be able to direct your call.

Get graduate level work. Look for a masters like accounting or some specialization. NARROW. MBA is too general, what are you going to do after that? are you going to go to a company and say "I have an MBA and I can do what????". An MBA is for someone who already has work history and wants to move to management. Like an accountant or engineer already working for at least couple of years in their field. You need to specialize first. Look for post bac or for a master program and take the pre-requisits courses. Like for example- A master in accounting, you would need pre-req courses and maybe GRE exam. So, choose something you like and specialyzed on that.

I wouldn't waste time getting another bachelor's degree. If you want more education, go to grad school. Do well on the GRE and just apply to a lot of schools, one is sure to pick you up.
