I love my jobs and my company but my new boss hates me.?

I have been in this company for 6 years, got multiple promotions and increases through the years. I even got an award few months rewarding my skills and ideas.
My new boss started 8 months ago and since day one he seems to have an issue with me. I had to do the work of 4 people all summer pending recruitments that came late. I put a lot of hours, got seriously sick but reported to work anyway and maitained the department in shape. In a recevent evaluation, He is picking on minor mistakes not he is acknowledging my dedication and attendance. Plus other things that I cannot describe here. I have the feeling that he is slowly setting me up. I cannot really report him to HR because I fear the consequences and also because he presents a Dr Jekyll face to the Management while I only see Mr Hyde.
Please feel free to email me, I would really appreciate some support and some ideas to fix this situtation.
Thank You

Classic bully. Get a voice recorder and record any conversations with your boss. Keep documentation of your work, emails etc. Use your head not your emotions, that's the only way to deal. Seek counseling because that's the only way you can get out of this situation sane. When you have enough evidence, provide to HR. If no action is taken, consult a lawyer. Don't quit!

He sounds like the typical "bully" kind of boss. He expects you to brown nose. That seems to be the way of the corporate world these days. If he steps out of line, don't feel you can't report him for those offenses.

wow thats tough for you. I have had problems in the past with other empolyees that I had feared to step forward and say something, But I had to and they will have to protect you if they are good bosses over him thats why thay have open door polices or not but you have to do it for your sanity if you really have the awards you talk about and your numbers are there. You shouldn't have anything to worry about if you can prove your worth.

Well ... it is very common for a new boss to assess his/her people the way he/she sees fit. It isn't unusal for a new boss to dislike a previously stellar performer of the old boss.

Here is what I would try:
- have a heart to heart; explain how you feel and explain that you are trying very hard to impress him
- try to understand what his motivations are? What his short term and long term goals for his department is. You might have to adjust your work performance in order to fully support him in acheiving his goal. Often times a new boss steps into an existing environment and the old staff doesn't work well with new boss. Old staff thinks they already know the job ... however new boss might have a completely different set of goals and objectives.

- if you are not very high up in the organization you can always ask for a transfer. I wouldn't burn any bridges, just state that you are looking for a lateral transfer to round out your skills and learn more.

Good luck.
