(girls only) Is there somthing wrong with me?

hi im 14.
ive got my period, ive had it for just under a year. the problem is that its so heavy. ive got big clots and a really heavy flow, im changing my pad every hr or 2 and ive got bad period pains.

this happend to me about 4 months ago and i went to a doctor but they sayed every things fine.

its night time here and i cant get to sleep coz my pad keeps filling up.
i want to tell my mum but she gets angry if i wake her up at night and also her boyfriend is sleeping with her and i dont want him to know about it(he will ask).
im really worried.

do you think i will be ok if i wait till the morning to tell my mum in private or tell her now?

and am i normal or should i consult a doctor?

thanks

no stupid answers please.

P.S.
my boobs are really itchy too but i dont think that has anything to do with it, i heard they get itchy when there growing. just thought i would add that in too.

What kind of pads are you using? Are they the regular kinds? Maybe you should try using the more expensive exorbitant pads.

being heavy on your period is just normal, really. some people are heavier than others. if you feel uncomfortable wearing a pad the just wear tampons in the day time and pads at night. they are a lot more clean and more comfortable. again, different people have their own likes and dislikes. i used to be heavy on my period and now im light. don't worry about it

You are perfectly normal. The same thing happened to me at your age. I went to the doctor several times and he used to say really stupid things like "It will sort itself out when you have a baby" Which wasn't much comfort to a 13 year old!!! Go back to your doctor, mine eventually gave me tablets to take (like the pill but not a contraceptive!) which regulated my periods and made it much easier to cope with.

My doctor was right by the way - having a baby did sort it out - but I had to wait another 13 years to find that out!! So don't wait!!!

1-2 years you period is really irregular. It can go way up and way down. Trust me I know. I remember my forth period it last 7 days longer and it was way way heavy. Switch to ultra maxi pads and that should help. Hang in.
BTW: If your mother gets really iritated then wait til the orning if you think it is that neccasry.

Don't worry: you will last til morning. And your right, things get a bit weird as you grow. It is natural for many girls to have strange period patterns up to age 20 (!) until it levels out. However, you probably should speak to your mom about it in private eventually, because their are things that can be done. You don't have to live in pain until your 20...see your doctor again if Motrin or Advil (active ingredient: ibuprofin doesn't calm your severe pain). (Small aches in lower back are normal though. And as for a fast flowing period, it could be good because it probably only lasts 2 days, whereas other women are on their period 7 to 10 days!)

i think u should be ok until the morning but if u feel like u need to talk 2 ur mom then u should i felt the same way but when i told my mom she was very helpful. your normal most girls have heavy cycles maybe try using more expensive ones or try using the super absorb ones

i would have the doc check your thyroid. All the symtoms u are listing sound like a thyroid problem or a hormone issue. U should not have to change your pad every 2 hours that is way to often. i would go to your doc and have them do blood work on u and hormone test on u as well.

ok well one of my friends dosent use pads at night and i know it sounds weird but she uses diapers and i think that they would work really well so ya

I don't think that you have any need to worry, but your doctor may be able to give you something to help with excessive bleeding/pain.

There are night time sanitary towels available or you could maybe try using a tampon with a towel?

Hope you feel better soon..............

it's normal! and horrible yes!...the only way that could help them is to go on the pill which helps alot!..have a word with your mum see what she has to say!

yes my daughters was just like you unfortunately it is normal to be painful and heavy some girls are lucky and have lighter periods, night time pads may help to control the bleeding through, as they have more absorbency, my daughters did get better as they got older,

try your doctor again there are medications you can take to help, also it is perfectly safe to sleep overnight with a tampon so you could try using those and a towel

x

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and i can tell you that some girls do have heavy periods to start with but until your body adjusts to the hormonal levels you may have these for a while. You should be able to talk to your mum i have 3 daughters and they can talk to me anytime. Your breasts will also be affected sometimes and may be painful but its nothing to worry about. If you are worried then talk to your Dr. The best thing to do it keep your legs up and stay calm. A warm bottle placed against your tummy will ease the pain. You can talk to me on the e mail address below if you need any more help
