Do you think it's cheap and low to work as a waitress in a hotel??

No offense cause I got a job as a waitress in a hotel, then everybody said "NO WAYY!!' they asked me to work in a bank as a clerk instead..

hehe.. thanks for all the positive answers

Whoa...I have never heard of this. Maybe I'm sheltered but I am pretty sure there isn't a correlation with being low/cheap and working as a waitress in a hotel. I have many friends who do the same as you and they do it for the hotel discount when they travel!

Enjoy your job and don't listen to what others think. Do what makes you happy and you cannot go wrong! :)

HEY your earning a paycheck right? As long as you are clothed and don't give hand jobs under the table then its OK!!! A job is a JOB.

No, that's not lame. AT ALL. It's sophisticated.

Whoa ....whoever everybody is they are sure a snobby lot...
it is who you are that defines you not what you do...

It's a perception thing, your friends obviously think you have the potential, the ability to work in a bank, they may think that waitressing is a "lowly" job,but there is no shame in doing honest work.

Maybe you have a certain look that makes people think you should be a banker or a doctor. Who knows! Working in a hotel as a waitress can take you in all sorts of directions for a career. You'll definitely earn more than a bank clerk that's for sure. Hospitality is huge these days and can pay really well if you like to smile. Good luck!

The potential to make a lot of money is excellent in a hotel, especially a four-star hotel restaurant. Of course it depends on the area that you live in but I have seen the money they make and I would say it ranges from 200 to 300 a night. I'm sure it's even more.

i received the same response when i took the spa therapist job. it is much more nasty when it comes to reputation especially from the country ive been. they were asking me if i am still in the same line of work after 4 years and i was thinking- 'i am earning more than what you have and i am happy with my job and i get promoted and now i am working on the other part part of the world and you were still in the same bank counter counting money for the last 4 years... it is not the clothes that you are wearing, sitting in front of a computer and working 9 to 5 but what is really important is that you are doing an honest work, earning and paying your own bills, being happy and satisfied..

No, I worked at a hotel restaurant while I was going to college. It was usually a slower pace. Since the menu was often over-priced, the tips were good. Also, when you have to deliver room service, a tip is automatically added. The people in the rooms usually added a tip too! Not a bad job if you aren't planning on doing it for the rest of your life. And even if you are, good luck.
