NEED HELP!! Important Job Interview tomorrow for a Hotel Office Manager position! Any tips!? 10 points~!? |
I have an important interview for a hotel office manager position tomorrow. I have had experience in the hotel field already and I currently hold a position as an assistant manager at my current workplace. However I am interested in this job because of the better pay and the convenient location. Are there any questions I will probably be asked? What are some major no-no's I should avoid in my interview? Any other tips? What are some ways I could impress my interviewer? What are some things I should avoid because it will definately turn off my interviewer? Any ways to make myself stand out more to her!? Thank you!! Employers are looking for employees that have: integrity, a plan, and look to add value to the companies that they come to. Focus on these elements and use examples of how you have used these characteristics in the past. Stay away from looking like someone who feels that they are entitled to things. You are there to cater to them not the other way around. Hi... You got a good reason to nail that job. If you want to improve your chances try this. Job interviews: http://www.tutorhelp.com.au/job-intervie... Just sell yourself as the best candidate and you're in. BIG No NO's are complaining about your company or your past companies, employees, bosses, etc. Basically keep that junk to yourself even if you truly hate them. Try to turn all negatives into positives, ie. when they ask you something that is "wrong" with you that needs fixing, find something that is still a positive of you even if it sounds bad. ie. I work too hard or too long at projects. I need to work on relaxing a little more. (mind you this is a guideline, don't actually say this because it makes you sound lazy) know what I mean? Since you're already in the industry you know the job well. I can't imagine they'd ask you something you don't know. But if they do, be honest and say you don't know or aren't familiar with whatever it is. If you try to fake it they'll know. GOOD LUCK!! :) The tips: Show up early and with two copies of your resume in hand. Your hiring manager might be great at interviews and organization and not need it, or they may be scattered and unsure of themselves in which case you have given them what they will probably use as an outline for their questions for you. You'll be calming them and distinguishing yourself as a candidate. The 2nd copy may be for you, it may be for an additional or unexpected interviewer. Prepare five questions about the company in advance. You want to know what it's like to work there and you want to know what kind of people have been successful in the company and perhaps in the position in the past. Your questions should indicate that you are seriously interested in investigating the company and want to better understand what it's like to work there. You are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you. Be sure to take your end of the job seriously. Arrive dressed like you are ready for your best day at work ever. Make sure you get a business card of the person interviewing you. Send a Thank You email the same day. Follow it up with a hand written card and you are way out front. Do not: Ask about the pay. If they are interested, they'll ask Always end the interview with a Thank you and if you are still interested in the job, let them know that you have enjoyed learning about the company and that you feel that you'd be successful in the job. Good luck to you! Let us know how you did! |
