i want to get a job in a hotel abroad over the summer. i am particularly looking at cyprus, paphos but am not to bothered if other places arise. where is the best place to search for vacancies and information? The tourist season in Cyprus usually begins in April, so many hotels will have already recruited staff for this season. There are not any employment agencies here in Cyprus as such, but vacancies are advertised in two English language newspapers, the Cyprus Weekly and the Cyprus Mail which is a daily paper. It's not easy to line up a job in advance of you arriving in Cyprus. The best way is to come here and then look for a job, as many smaller hotels and restaurants don't advertise, so people get to hear about any vacancies by asking around. You can also drop your CV off at hotels to see if you get any response. Be aware that wages are not the same as in the UK, on average you could expect to earn around CY 拢400-拢500 per month working in a hotel. Obviously if you can speak Greek this will greatly improve your chances of finding employment and increase your earning potential. Good luck Go to the library and the employment and careers section. Take a pen and paper with you. There will be a copy- maybe many- of a book called 'work your way around the world' choose the most up to date version and you will find heaps of addresses and phone numbers for all sorts of work in every country. Write all the details down then start sending out CV's etc. Visit web sites of top hoteliers and look for 'CAREER' with them. |
