Anyone ever work in a hotel? |
I was thinking of applying for a job as a hotel house keeper. I told my mother and she freaked out and said, and I quote, "Eeeeeeewww! you'd be cleaning up every bodily fluid imaginable....and I mean, *every* bodily fluid". Has anyone ever worked as a hotel house keeper before? is it bad? It depends on the hotel policy. You should check what responsibilities the job involves. The hotel I worked in had housekeepers and maids. It was MAIDS whose job involved cleaning. Housekeepers only had to check whether the room was cleaned properly and do the administration. They were sort of bosses of the maids. Not as a housekeeper, but I can tell you *shudder* the stories they would share. Your mom is right, and that applies to other places besides the rooms! We used to routinely have to replace light bulbs in one of the hallways (the flame style) because they were covered with fecal matter. Remember to wear latex gloves! HTH not at all. you will be wearing gloves...and if not enough, wear a surgical mask. it's a decent job... it's not as horrible as most would assume. but that would depend on the guest staying in the room. i've cleaned hotel rooms before and it wasn't bad. you wear gloves and use cleaning chemicals and stuff. tips were great. It certainly depends on the quality of the hotel you are working at. You will run into horror stories regardless of the hotel, but the fear that it will be "everyday and everywhere" is a gross exaggeration of a reputable hotel. Troublemakers are few and far between. |
