What kind of question should i ask when i interview some one for hotel front desk job? As an avid traveler, the personnel manning the front desk must have two qualities: 1) customer service skills and 2) problem solving skills. Prior to the interview, have a ten minute conversation with them over the phone to see how well their phone skills would be. At the interview, let them wait for 15 minutes to see whether the interviewee is a little hot under the collar or is cool as a cucumber and attentive to you. Give them a hypotheical problem and see how they would resolve it. You're looking for somebody who can think on their toes, not somebody who will say to you "What do you think?" Afterwards, introduce the interviewee to others and see how well their interaction is with these people - firm handshake, smiling, and eye contact. Ask them about their people skills,well,you should be able to tell how they interact with people by talking with them. You should also ask them about clerical skills and typing. watch them and see what kind of disposition they have when talking to you,that will tell you if they will be able to handle an unhappy customer or a crisis on the staff,GOOD LUCK! You just have to know what you want. Do you speak English? "If I went to your neighborhood, what do you think your neighbors would say about you?" Are you comfortable giving directions? Step back and ask yourself what you ask of your top front desk clerks... things I would consider standard would be punctuality, being outgoing, ability to work as part of a team, availability, and previous customer service experience with examples of specific experiences. My favorite interview question to ask is "Tell me who you are, where you've been (what your background is), and where you want to go?" It catches people by surprise, so it weeds out the candidates with no ambition, and gets you forward thinking people. Good luck! |
