I am seek ing a job in fine hotel,need help,can you advise me? |
Past experience with group sales,guest relations, private parties, catering, dining setup&decorations, fashions shows,and special events. That's the exp you have or is that the exp they want? If it's what they want and you don't have it, think about your transferrable skills. How about volunteer work experience? Answer interview questions with situations you've been in that relate. You can also start by applying for a lower level job and learn more as you go and get to know the ppl in the dept where you want to work. I truly believe if you want something badly enough you will find a way to get it. Your desire will shine thru and it will be noticed. One of the greatest tools you can use is the informational interview. Choose a hotel that's not related to where you want to apply. Call someone in the dept and tell them what you're up to. You are applying for blah blah and would like to do an informational intv with them. Write down your questions, just about every single person will give you the intv. It's because you are not asking for anything from them and they also love to talk about their jobs. You can find out a ton of stuff that way. You can even do it over the phone. I used to be a job developer so that's how I know all this stuff. But don't overwhelm me with questions, I'm just having fun reading and responding to questions on this site. Since working in a Hotel/Resort, you'll need experience, and I mean Hotel-experience, it is tough. But if you like paradies like the US Virgin Islands, you have a great chance submitting your resume to the following Resorts.
