Am I qualified to work on a hotel even if I am obviously 80 lbs overweight? |
I have the greatest desires to work on a hotel, even if I am only an undergraduate student of HRM i still wanted to pursue my hotel working experience. But my problem is I am worried because as I've heard, th eworkers must be physically fit and good personality, is that true? I can work at any department, and I dont complain to anykinds of jobs, may it be a crummy jobs or a housekeeping job, as long as it is my worth. All I have in myself is a good attitude and willingness to be trained and to work on hotel, my heart really inspires me to work there. Please see my picture and judge me if I really look bad. Thank you! My name is Ryan, 21 yrs of age, male, from Philippines. Many people on other countries loved Filipino workers, and I wanted to be one of them someday, i know I can but my only problem is my weight, please help me, i need ur advice. All I know is that I have a possitive outlook on my working abilities. Thank you! Don't worry about your weight, just charm people with your fabulous attitude. In the hotel industry, personality and attitude are more important than physical features, unless you are doing a job you have a disability that stops you from doing something - being overweight is not a disability! If you have a positive, can-do attitude, people will be far more impressed than if you look good but just aren't interested in taking care of their needs! Don't worry about your weight and have confidence in yourself. I think they should hire anyone who is a good worker. Just tell the hotel people that you are a student and want to learn. Be as friendly as possible! Best of luck! hmmmm.... i would say just apply to every hotel and im sure someone will hire you for a job doing something and also try to lose weight while in process of looking for employment with hotels that is a plus I don't think that weight should be the leading reason for not hiring u, unless it's an obstacle for u to fulfill ur duties otherwise it's all up to u don't give up infinite wisdom Modified 1 year ago I dont think weight should be a reason for someone not hiring you but It MAY be a factor to consider if you are doing a job wherein people will see you like waiters, bell boys, desk people...They might want to hire someone who will look presentable to people... I suggest trying to look your best and to think positive. Wear a suit and tie for your interviews, look and feel confident, have a firm grip when shaking hands. Prove to them that you have a great attitude and make them feel warma and comfortable once they meet you. This is what most hotels are looking for anyways. They want their guests to feel welcome and at home. Just be yourself and show your passion for the business. It will shine through and before you know it, you will land your dream job. Dont dream about it, work for it. |
