Law on hotel sercurity and safety?

I've been working at a hotel and the past few months they have had me on the late night shift from 11 pm to 7 am. ive never had any serious problems befor (beside hobo's) but tonight im scared i had 3 guest (two guys and a lady) that were fighting and one of the men beet the lady up so bad she had to go t the ER the cops took one man to jail and the other got away. they were making fake ID's and Checks in the room and the point im worried about the man that got away coming back and maybe trying to hurt me. the doors to the hotel are supose to lock but there rusted and dont lock!! i like my job and do not want to quit but im scared my life could becom in danger one day.. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!! is the property owner or manager supose to make sure everything is safe?? (for me at night) or should i just find another job,

I work that same shift- and it can get pretty scary. Usually if you talk to your manager and tell them your concerns they will work with you, especially on the night audit shift, as it is a really hard position to fill. If they aren't willing to help you feel safe then you should find somewhere else- you could even try a different hotel in the area. It takes a special type of person to be able to handle all of the creepy things that go on at nights at hotels.

I had a situation where 2 guys came up behind the desk and cornered me... I talked to my managers and they made sure that other security precautions were put into place and made sure that i felt comfortable working still.

Also, make sure you know your hotel's policy on eviction. Usually if you feel threatened by a guest you can call the cops and they will help you get the guest out of the hotel... and you don't have to refund their money, but like I said, this varies from hotel to hotel.

Tech support is there in case you run into problems with your computers or other equiptment. Source(s): I work this shift at a different hotel.
sound's to me like that situation was handled good, to bad the other crook got away. If your scared at this work place, it is best to get another job and one in the day time. Property owner and manager are not necessarily responsible for keeping you safe.
I am a night auditor who has been working this shift for 5 years. If you don't have security, you should. I never have to worry (that much) because there is always someone here for me. If the hotel does not provide it, you may want to think about switching. The good news is that night auditors are hard to find, so you shouldn't have any problems finding another job. It may even work out better for you.
I work for hotels!!! If you work at a Travellodge, HoJo, Amerihost, Days Inn, Kights Inn, Ramada, Super 8, Villager, Wingate, Baymont, or a Wyndham hotel, you can even all me!! I work over night for tech support! You can call me! lol. I only work with the Brilliant PM system, so if you have HSS, or MSI or Softhotel then you can't get a hold of me.

Oh... maybe talk to you manager about having a security guard work overnight or something. Maybe look for the new job. There isn't much we can do you here at tech support. If we were talking to you and you were getting robed or something else bad then we could call 911 for you, but that is about it.
