Hotel housekeepers...? |
i used to work in housekeeping at a hotel where we had alot of male workers who worked the night shift and slept during the day, when we had to clean rooms. i would walk in on alot of men who were asleep or not dressed, they would leave there doors unlocked for us to walk into to. i quit that job after one man in just a towel would want me to come in and clean while he would be undressed. half the men there would leave there doors unlocked while the other half that used the do not disturb sign on there door. our boss wanted us to go into the rooms with the do not disturb sign on there door, and i felt that was a invasion of privacy. is this how most hotels are ran these days???do you think the housekeepers areworking in an unsafe enviroment? i loved working there and would love to work in another hotel but im fearful of the same thing happening again. any suggestions? I worked in one and went to clean the room I knocked on the door 2 times and yelled housekeeping no answer - when I opened the door a guy was standing there with a gun!! I slammed the door and ran from that job made them mail me my pay check wouldn't even go back for that. Don`t work in Hotels, get a job in an office building or something like that, you won`t run into those problems. yuck! i used to work as a hotel housekeeper too (2 different hotels) and i would never have had to do that. and if they wanted me too i would have also quit like you did. thats disgusting and i imagine pretty uncomfortable so you did the right thing but you should have reported it to a manager. i think if you go to another hotel you shouldnt have that problem ive never heard of that before. That is not how things were ran at the hotel I worked at. If a Do Not Disturb sign was on the door, you did not go in. Even if it meant that room did not get cleaned. You should never have to be in a room where you felt uncomfortable. Sounds like you had bad managers or a bad owner, or both. Was it a major hotel chain or an independently owned hotel. Major hotel chains typically will not allow that behavior, and if it happened you could contact the chains human resources department directly and report it. <GULP> and to think I was going to apply at a hotel down the road for that job....thanks for DISSUADING ME! ACK! I'm serious! Holy crap! That was wrong how your boss ran that Hotel!Thats against the law to make workers clean in front of half naked men and the men that did that were just pigs and did it because they couldn,t get a decent piece,if they wanted to!Get a job at a different hotel and when you get interviewed be honest why you left,They will respect you more for your h onesty and tell them you will not work under those terms!hollywood |
