Is it safe to work in Nigeria? |
Iapplied for a hotel job in Nigeria on line and they send me appointment letter, and asked to contact a office in Abuja Nigeria for immigration and work permit to whom I contacted the office asking me big amount to pay to get visa and work permit I wonder ,any may help me regarding this. If a foreign company wants to employ you then they take care of immigration applications, visas, etc. No reputable company would ask you to pay any sort of fee at all, let alone upfront. Unfortunately Nigeria is a country infamous for all kinds of scams, and this sounds like yet another one. Check out the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website (see link below) for the latest information on Nigeria and the country guide. "Google" the company you are meant to be working for to see if it has a website. And as with any job overseas, make sure you research it THOROUGHLY before you go. Source(s): http://www.fco.gov.uk/ hi....'NEVER EVER' send money to anyone in nigeria to get a visa or a work permit...YOU will never get them, YOU will just lose your money. i would also advise you to 'NOT' work in nigeria...it is very very unsafe. There are thousands of scams in Nigeria, dont go any where near it. Nigeria is not as safe as, say, England. That is if you are thinking of personal safety. Don't pay anything for work permits etc. as it is often a scam (see 419 site on Internet). |
