Hi,I would love to manage a bed and breakfast(hands on),I use to be head house keeper/receptionist in a hotel? |
what I would like to know is where are these jobs advertised also are there any short courses that I can go on ? I have tried search engines but only bring up bed and breakfast to stay at nothing regarding manager jobs thanks anyone! I would imagine that these jobs would usually be advertised in local papers, as they are generally small businesses. However, I don't think they come up very often as they are often ran by the owners. You probably need to start handing out letters with your cv to all the B&B's you come across. Quite often B&B owners know other B&B owners, and if any of them are looking for a manager it could be word of mouth that could get you a job. What about B&B's for homeless people? I appreciate this may not appeal! The government is trying to discourage use of B&B's and some local authorities do not use B&B accommodation, but plenty do. I think staff turnover in these places is a little higher as it is quite a difficult job! Good luck in your job hunting! try indeed.com it is a website with info from many search engines. Some you may not have even know existed. Put in bed and breakfast manager and do not put in a location. See what pops up. I think if you wanted to take a course check out a local college. It would probably be under the hospitality or hotel management. You could also check out your local bed and breakfast association; they should have some helpful ideas. Most of these jobs aren't advertised ... it's a business that you buy and run. You would have to look at buying a home that you could make into a B&B. Some of the older homes are better suited to this type of business. Good luck. |
