Can you take a desktop computer to a hotel room that has internet access?

My job is sending me out of town for a week(I'm driving), but I can't go a whole week without yahoo answers. Can I take my desktop and if so, do I need my modem? Unfortunately I don't have a laptop.

There is no reason you can't, if you really want to lug around a desktop and monitor etc. Why not just get a cheap laptop?

Most likely you would need a modem and hey it sucks if you dont have a laptop. You should think about getting one because they come in handy.
Yeah the laptop is usually the best choice...but do you really want to haul your desktop computer around? You could check and see if the hotel has available computers. I don't believe you need your modem if they have an internet line to plug into the back of your computer.

the answer is YES you can take your desktop computer with you and NO you do not need a modem, most hotels provide hi-speed internet using a LAN-connection, so a modem isn't needed.
