Weather, people, home prices, jobs $ in fort smith arkansas-moving from california?

moving to fort smith to be closer 2 family- what are insects like there, weather-hot? snow? , home prices, job pay anything you can think of why we wouldn't want to move there! thanks

There are more insects and bugs in the summer like many other cities. It can be hot in the summer but otherwise it can be cold in the winter with occasional snow that usually does not stay on the ground that much if at all.
You can get a reasonable house for around $100,000. Of course, there are more desirable areas that you want to live and areas you want to avoid. Your family should be able to help.
If you are in a place in California with a lot of stuffs to do, you may be in for a cultural shock. However, if it is more important to be with the family, you may find yourself adapted and adjusted to a slower paced life. If you like nature, there are outdoor activities to do around Fort Smith. I found people to be fine. Just like any places, there are good and bad ones.
I think it is important for you to come and visit and see for yourself first before the move. Come and do house-hunting. You should find that you can afford a bigger house than in California. Drive around and see neighboring towns such as Fayetteville, Rogers, Tulsa and even Little Rock. There will be more like 4 seasons compared to just California weather.
