Why is it that men are attracted to hot girls..why the mind plays tricks on us? |
I don't understand it. I'm so attracted to beautiful girls but i have never had the chance to meet any of them. I just see them in the street. The ones i interact with , like at work. Are not hot, not curvacious.. mostly they are overweight and the ones that i meet in my life are never my type. So what i'm trying to say is why does the male brain want and desire Sexy hot girls when in reality.. ... the chance to meet those kinds of girls may not exists and the only girls you meet are non hot? Like in america, many office jobs have girls that sadly don't take careof themselves in the weight department. So in my work that's the only types of girls i meet, yet my mind is always crying out "I want a hot girl." Some believe that men are more attracted to females based on sexual characteristics, as these are more likely to propogate their genetic material. Women (this has been validated cross culturally) are more attracted to status--be it money, power, etc. Moreover, women are split in that they are attracted to men with more feminine faces for long term relationships, while more attracted to men with masculine faces for one night stands. From an evolution stand point, women can only have 1 pregnancy in 8 months, so they must invest more into conception than men, and thereby search for mates who will support them through the pregnancy. Males can impregnate thousands of partners, so they are more interested in females who can concieve the child (hence our attraction to large breast, broad hips, etc). There has been some evidence that women are more attracted to larger penises because, after the hip size of females lengthened due to increase in head size of infants, it is more difficult for men to impregnate women with smaller penises (use your imagination). This may explain the fact that humans have considerably larger penises than other primates. As for functions within the brain, I've never been a neuroscience person, but, from what I do remember (this may not be exact--do some research), Neural response from the sensory cortex bipasses the frontal lobe (the part of the brain that involves higher order processes--conscious decision making) and directly results in nervous response (excitement, arousal). This is more in men than women. Also, men resort more on sight for arousal than do women (who are more aroused by psychological stuff)...this is consistent with the above theory. You sound pretty distressed with your job. Could you look for one in a different field? BTW, while men are not as pressured to look good, there has been growing concern that men are dissatisfied with the way they look (e.g., growing frequency of eating disorders in men, and less satisfied with appearance--see source). Look at the increase in hair replacement treatment, (and yes, there is a HUGE market for male enhancement--men don't get penis enlargement because it's impossible--many surgeries involve big risks with little gains). It sounds to me like you have chances to meet what you consider , hot women, you just choose not to. If you see an attractive female on the street, you could try to talk to her. It is your choice. We women have the same problem also. Good looking men are hard to come by, and it is harder for us. Men do not go have their hair done(colored, highlited,straightened,etc..), have their nails done, wear makeup(a plain girl can look great with properly applied makeup), or get penis enlargements, to make themselves more attractive to the opposite sex. It is sad that so many people in america are so overweight, it is widley known that we have an obesity problem here in the U.S. I work hard to take care of myself, i am 33 have 3 kids and i still wear a size 6. You know what is sad, is that i am still considered overweight by the media, and also probably guys like you. It is natural to want somone that you find physically attractive. You may find though, that if you get to know all types of people. You will find them less, or more attractive when you get to know them. Someone who is very beautiful, can be very ugly also. You do not see that though, until you get to know them. Good luck in finding the "hot girl" Men find hot girls so... how could I say this? Tempting... because hot girls have sense of wonder or mystery about them. Like you said, you only interact with non hot girls. So, when you see a hot one, you all jump on her like hyenas. Male brains are programmed to want to be better than eachother. If you have yourself a nice piece of 'arm candy', then that really boosts your macho status. And second of all, 1st impressions DO count. So when you see a group of women and one is especially attractive, one can't help but want to get to know her first. Like in television shows! When is the nice attractive man married to a unattractive, homely, hairy beast? Never! So when we see attractive people, it makes us feel more attractive. Help that answered your question. |
