Do tank less hot water heaters get the job done?

Yes they do work, but there are pros and cons to be considered.

Con 1. First, they are much more expensive to buy.

Pro 1. They usually cost less to operate.

Con 2. Because of their size, sometimes it may be necessary to but two
units for a large house, but not always.

Pro 2. It will eventually pay for itself and they tend to use less power
than a conventional water heater.

Con 3. You may be tempted to stay in the shower longer because of an
endless supply of hot water thereby driving up your water bill.

I personally think they are a good investment. You should check on the warranty and the projected life expectancy of the unit you are looking at. Then, if you do buy one, you must decide if you are going to try to keep it in the same basic area, or move it to a new location.

Installation is relatively easy once you determine where you want it to be. There are guidelines that you鈥檒l have to follow. Each manufacture has their own set of guidelines that should be considered before you purchase and then followed after purchase.

Note: If you don't already have one, a water softener is also a good idea. The store you purchase it from should be able to help you with all of the details.

They do the job. They cost more than a regular water heater. You must change your plumbing around if you have the other type already installed. They take a while to pay for. Be sure and get one with enough capacity to be sure and take care of your needs.
it depends on the hardness of your water, and if you don't have a water softener - whether you want to go to the trouble and expense.

we didn't find it a good solution - we have really hard water.

and don't already have a whole house water softener...

install a water softener before or at the same time as the tankless water heater.
