Has the popularity of outsourcing jobs led to the current debate over immigration? |
Think about this...big business has typically used cheap immigrant labor to keep profit margins high. Now that they are simply shipping jobs overseas to cheap labor market, has that finally opened the door to get rid of immigrants? They can bring the jobs to the immigrants now, instead of the immigrants coming here (and spending their US made dollars in the US). If not, why wasn't immigration such a hot button issue, say, 10 years ago? The immigration issue became heightened due to the 9/11 hijackers getting past the systems we had in place then. It simply evolved from there to expand as we see it today. If one wants to address the push of jobs overseas, they also need to address the ridiculous demand of unions that cause this as well. It didnt make them feel any better about it, Ill tell you that much. yes. you are right. but, it is also a kind of explotation because of cheap labour Outsourcing is pretty new....then add nafta to the mix....now you have a recipe for disaster! While the service industry may be growing...GOOD jobs are few and far between.
