I have a side job as a crew person for a hot air balloon pilot and I was able to fly TWICE this weekend! Totally awesome! I was 3000 feet in the air at one point! Then we were about 150 feet over a busy highway and everyone was honking and waving! What a rush!
Yes, I crew for the largest special shape balloon in the United States, the very tall (166ft.) very pink, Energizer Bunny Hot "Hare" balloon. It is 15 feet taller than the Statue of LIberty and takes a crew of 20 or more to put it up. I have been wtih the bunny for many years and his pilot is the only female special shape pilot in the US. You want to get attention? Fly in that once or twice ha ha ha. If you are new to the world of ballooning, welcome.
