I'm 50, F, no job, no prospects, and a resume. My field for 15 yrs has been clerical/data entry.?

I am signed up with all the local agencies, check craigslist.com every day, set up on Monster, Hot Jobs, Indeed.com and several others. I have lowered my starting wage, and am getting desperate as my unemployment ran out last week. I have been searching for 6 mo now and no luck, seems that all any company wants is a 20-something with big u know what's. It seems like experience, dependability, and someone eager to work doesn't count for much now days.
I don't mean to sound sour or bitter, but it's getting rather depressing to go in for an interview and when u get contacted back or u call back, the jobs always been filled.
Any one with any kind of suggestions, ideas or solutions, PLEASE respond, I'm getting desperate.

1)you might have to take what you can get, i.e. a store clerk or something like that until something better comes along. 2) if you can work shift work or weekends put that on your resume because a lot of employers like people that have flexible schedules. 3)what does your work history look like, have you had one job for a long time or several short term jobs? that may be the problem. 4)try manpower or one of the other temp agencies, the usually have temp to perm jobs with companies that you can not get to otherwise. 5)check the websites of the companies that you want to work for, they often to not post externally and depend on people that are interested to check their postings. 6) what about your local unemployment office, they must have some job leads to send you on. and finally 7) turn your resume into a couple of companies that you know have openings, if you do not get called for an interview call them and ask them why??? you may want to check your referances and see what they are saying about you. and finally, when in doubt network with friends and relatives who may work for companies and can refer you to them.
RU hott?
Try guru.com as well. It's been a life saver for me.
Sometimes employers hesitate to hire experienced workers because they fear that they will not be able to adjust from their old habits and into a new working environment. If you get an interview, emphasize that you have a very flexible attitude
I am in my middle 30's and I feel just like you. The world has been taking over by this young population. Even my doctor is younger than me. I moved to a new place and started looking for a Job, 6 job applications later and no job. I gave up, going back to school to boost up my resume. Good Luck to you!!

Sorry, but about 14 years ago (after 1 year of clerical/data entry) you should have developed more valuable and marketable skills. Your clerical skills are being automated at rates never seen before. You are competing with either (a) computers or (b) hot young playthings for execs. Neither of these is good for you - but neither were they 15 years ago (although maybe you feel into category (b) back then?)

Anyway, it is WAY, WAY too late to be getting desperate. You brought this on yourself. Here are my suggestions:

- Move to another location.
- Lower your wages more.
- During an interview, try to offer something extra - some other basic skill or idea you can do for the company (run errands, set up schedules, do light marketing, etc.)
