I'm 50, F, no job, no prospects, and a resume. My field for 15 yrs has been clerical/data entry.? |
I am signed up with all the local agencies, check craigslist.com every day, set up on Monster, Hot Jobs, Indeed.com and several others. I have lowered my starting wage, and am getting desperate as my unemployment ran out last week. I have been searching for 6 mo now and no luck, seems that all any company wants is a 20-something with big u know what's. It seems like experience, dependability, and someone eager to work doesn't count for much now days. I don't mean to sound sour or bitter, but it's getting rather depressing to go in for an interview and when u get contacted back or u call back, the jobs always been filled. Any one with any kind of suggestions, ideas or solutions, PLEASE respond, I'm getting desperate. keep trying.. how about public company ? like government, non-profit organization, social company ? well keep trying on private company too, i think they afraid for retired-fee or things like that. how about some small business ? home business ? handicraft, snacks ? contact all your friends... but keep trying for what you've been doing now... i'm jobless too... i hope you'll get one.. but while searching.. be happy.... =) I'm only a 14 year old guy, but anyway, my prayers are with you. Good luck finding a job. Don't worry, you are going to get a job. Go to the supermarket. I don't know why, just go. You'll have to look at waitressing jobs or something in a factory, punching out widgets. Sad to say, but your age is really a limiting factor. I'm 48 and have been truckin' for 13 years, so I can do that until my health fails. You could try starting your own business... Try getting a government grant and open up your own business. I'm sure there is funding for women . Try telemarketing, they don't care what you look like there. Good luck . Since your unemployment has run out, this may not work. But I know there is federal money going to the states to continue unemployment while a person gets training. I am in an 18-week program to learn Microsoft Office products and a variety of other programs, but this is California. As I say, it's federal money, but the states make the rules. Still, there's nothing to lose by checking it out. Go to the unemployment office and ask a lot of questions. With George W. Bush in office it's gonna be hard to find a job. Goodluck. |
