What will dissolve salt and baking soda faster-hot or cold water?

is for a scince fair project for my job

I'll take a stab at this one.

If you're comparing the two, water will disolve more NaCl than it will Sodium bicarbonate because it dissociates a lot faster and effienciently (due to its electronegativitiy and other factors).

On that same note, if you are asking directly if both dissolve faster in cold or hot water, hot water is always your best bet with solids dissolving in water. On another note, if you want to disolve a gas in water lower temperatures are pretty much the only way to accomplish this (but thats a different topic).

So in short, both will disolve better in hot water!

Check out the source below it is very helpful. Oh and by the way, Sodium bicarbonate does dissolve in water. Source(s): http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/may...
Hot water will desolve most things faster. However, I do not beleive baking soda is soluble.

Baking soda, which is Calcium Carbonate, would not desolve because it contains the carbonate ion.
the solubility of a substance almost always goes up with the temp, so the answer is hot water.
hot water because the molecules of hot water are farther apart then that of the cold water.
