I'm NOT going to sleep w/my super hot co-worker thanks in part to you all, but stopping the emotional affair? |
Thank all of you that responded to my original post at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... I thought long and hard about the responses I recieved, and decided NOT to sleep with him because it would only lead to me getting hurt. Also, I can't ignore the fact that he is married and that is his FIRST priority, not me, and I never will be whether I sleep with him or not. So the question now is... should and/or how do I put a stop to the flirting and emotional aspect of our relationship? Since he and I have never spoken of our attraction openly, should I put all the cards on the table now, and let him know the undercover flirting has to stop? -OR- Should I remain silent about the situation, and let it go on as is knowing that I will not act on the flirting, so the situation doesn't become akward between us? -OR- Is there another way out of this aside from either of us quitting our job? Obviously you like and need your job, so putting a stop to the flirting will eventually help you feel less anxious when being around him. It'll be easier if you just keep it silent, the way it's being done, without any words. Your actions will let him know you no longer want to participate in the flirting. You'll know what to do, since you seem to be analitical and objective about what's going on. For example, if he used to get real close to you while talking, start taking steps back, to the side. Get "busy" doing other things, avoid staying alone in the same room, etc. That'll sure give him a hint. Now, if he's a mature person, he'll understand and stop it shortly. Unfortunately, flirting heavily while being married shows him very inmature, so be prepare for him to approach you with questions. Maybe even harder or obvious flirting as to find out wha'ts going on. If this last happens, you don't have to say any long lines. Just remind him, he's married you're not and you sure don't want to get in any trouble. :) Stop the flirting and get on with your work. No need for either of you to quit. If you're not going to go all the way with this person then stop the flirting and get back to work. sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex If you can't keep your mind on your work you need a new job. Just ignore him. Don't be rude about it, if he talks to you talk back, but keep it professional and short. If there is something there over time he will realize it and leave his wife and do the right thing. If not, then he will no longer flirt and leave you alone thus assuring you it was all for not. Either way... the whole thing is a ticking time bomb. I work with many attractive females and have always stuck with my motto. Do not stick the pen in the company ink.... it just makes things better. There is no reason either of you need to quit, Just keep it professional and he'll get the hint. From someone who has had workplace romances, it's never a good idea to proceed, so you made the right choice. That said, now you must act like it. You have the power to halt the flirting by simply not responding or not reacting. Since you still find the idea of being with him desirable, it will be hard. But be a grown-up and remain in control of your own actions. Remember, even dogs have enough sense not to poop where they eat. Stay strong. |
