Is there anymore confidence in British degrees? Why cant I get a graduate job???

There seems to be other unnecessary hurdles to be cleared before one can get a job in the UK. Especially if you happen to be a foreign national with a UK degree, you stand a high chance of being turned down for most jobs.....but why???

You're mistaken if you think just completing a degree should entitle you to a good job. The British government has insisted on increasing the number of degrees dramatically - much faster than the increase in the number of jobs requiring these degrees. If you get a high degree class from a good university in a science or engineering subject, you're still fine, but a 2.2 in media studies from an ex-poly doesn't mean anything in the workplace. Frankly a lot of people with degrees from British universities are not particularly intelligent and haven't developed any useful skills. They just came from families that pushed them through university.

Also, are you an EU citizen? If not, the employer has to go through a lot more hassles to hire you, which would explain why it's harder for you.

Probably British applicants with similar degrees are given preference. It is not only degrees though, it is appearance , personality, and a number of other things that determine a successful application, not just the degree.or qualification.Employers can afford to be fussy

you proberly get turned down for being over qualified, my brother has the same problem.
